BUST MYTHS, KNOW THE FACTS ON GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING!

MYTH

The Guidance Center is only for students with problems.

The Guidance Center gives disciplinary actions.

Counseling means giving advise.

One counseling session fixes everything.

Guidance counselors can read minds.

FACT

The Guidance Center is for everyone. You can visit for academic concerns, career planning, life adjustments, or simply for a conversation.

Disciplinary actions are handled by the SSO. While the Guidance Center does not impose punishments, we help students understand the reasons behind disciplinary actions and support them in making positive changes.

Counseling is more about helping you understand yourself, clarify your goals, and develop the skills to make your own choices.

Counseling is a process; and progress often unfolds over several conversations. Real change takes time, and each session builds on the last.

Guidance counselors can’t read minds. They listen, explore concerns, provide interventions, and guide students forward.
