Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) proudly recognized 120 senior Electrical Engineering students for successfully completing the SolarPro Certification+ training program during a ceremony held on June 4, 2024, at the Learning Resource and Activity Center. This comprehensive training, led by Energy Conservation Officer Engr. Irish May G. Saludar and EE Department Chair Engr. Lowell B. Ratilla, equips graduates with valuable skills and knowledge in solar energy systems.
The SolarPro Certification+ program ran from February to May 2024 and was a collaborative effort between the New Energy Academy (NEA) and the CIT-U Electrical Engineering Department. Students received an integrated curriculum focusing on technical fundamentals, solar design and installation, and solar business concepts, complemented by online courses and practical training conducted by VocTech Academy. Upon completion, graduates will earn a TESDA NC II certificate in Solar PV Systems Installation, along with certificates from NEA and Global Sustainable Energy Solutions (GSES), opening doors to diverse career opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
The program aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). As graduates await their TESDA NC II assessment schedules, their hard work positions them for impactful careers in the solar industry, contributing to a sustainable future. CIT-U encourages other educational institutions interested in adopting similar programs to reach out for collaboration.
