In a collaborative effort to address the growing need for mental health awareness and support, CIT University’s Department of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences, along with BS Psychology student interns, have teamed up with Virgen delos Remedios Parish Caritas to launch a transformative 12-session series titled “Padayon’ Padulong sa Kinabuhing Malambuon.” The program, which kicked off on July 8, 2023, in Labangon, Cebu City, aims to empower the parish’s beneficiaries and volunteers by providing vital mental health education and support. These sessions are held every other Saturday and will run until December 2023.
This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), as it promotes mental health and provides access to resources and education on mental wellness. By raising awareness and offering practical support, the program fosters healthier communities and addresses the often-overlooked aspects of mental well-being.
The series also advances SDG 4 (Quality Education), with CIT University student interns applying their academic training to real-world situations, enhancing their learning while delivering impactful mental health education. Through this, CIT University continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing quality education that serves both its students and the wider community.

Furthermore, the program exemplifies SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by showcasing how collaborative efforts between academic institutions and local organizations can drive sustainable development. This partnership reflects the power of community engagement in addressing societal challenges like mental health, which often requires multifaceted support systems.
“Padayon’ Padulong sa Kinabuhing Malambuon” is more than just a mental health program—it is a call to action to create lasting positive change. By empowering participants to prioritize mental well-being and inspire hope, the initiative serves as a beacon of light for individuals facing mental health struggles. Together, the program advocates, “Let’s do something that makes someone happy, create something that inspires, and be the light for those who feel hopeless.”
This effort underscores CIT University’s dedication to sustainable development and its proactive role in promoting health, education, and community partnerships for a better future.
