On 28 November 2025, CIT University, represented by Engr. Hanz Corbeta, the Senior Project Management Officer of the Quality Assurance Office for Administration, participated in the Economic Sector Workplan Workshop conducted by the Economic Development Committee of the Regional Development Council Region VII (RDC 7) at the Golden Prince Hotel & Suites, Cebu City. This engagement highlights the University’s ongoing commitment to regional development and its longstanding culture of excellence, qualities that continue to position CIT University as a top Philippine university and a leading engineering university in Cebu.

The workshop is part of the ongoing efforts by RDC 7 to operationalize the region’s SDG Catch-Up Plan, a roadmap designed to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The Catch-Up Plan was crafted through prior multi-stakeholder consultations involving regional agencies, local government units, civil society, the private sector, and the academe. By joining these diverse sectors, CIT University strengthens its role as a top university that actively shapes policy discussions and contributes meaningful insights to development initiatives.

As a higher education institution, CIT University’s involvement directly supports SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals) by contributing inputs in regional SDG planning and engaging in cross-sectoral collaboration. Through this participation, the University lends its voice in shaping economic-sector strategies, interventions, and programs that will guide the region’s SDG progress over the next several years. This engagement further demonstrates why CIT University is recognized as a top Philippine university grounded in innovation, leadership, and academic excellence.

Engr. Corbeta’s participation elevates the role of academe in regional development planning, reinforcing the notion that universities are not only centers of learning but also active partners in building sustainable, inclusive, and equitable futures for their communities and region. His representation underscores the University’s responsiveness to national development priorities and highlights how CIT continues to embody a strong culture of excellence within and beyond campus.

As an engineering university in Cebu with a long history of producing industry-ready graduates and thought leaders, CIT University brings data-informed perspectives to discussions on economic growth, workforce development, and long-term sustainability. Its contributions help ensure that regional strategies remain anchored on evidence, innovation, and the needs of a rapidly evolving society.

CIT University remains committed to supporting sustainable development—locally, regionally, and nationally—through collaboration, data-driven planning, and inclusive partnerships under the SDG framework. With its deep commitment to community-building and its unwavering dedication to being a top university in the Philippines, CIT University continues to champion initiatives that shape a more resilient and sustainable future for Cebu and the entire nation.
