Spearheaded by the Student Success Office (SSO), in collaboration with the Social Impact Catalyst and SSP031 Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Classes across all college programs, CIT University participated in the Global Goals Awareness Week 2025 on September 25–27, 2025. This three-day global event celebrated simultaneous activities both onsite and online, marking CIT University’s first official involvement in this worldwide movement.
As a top Philippine university, CIT University joined the global call for action toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. This initiative sought to promote awareness and collaboration among students, employees, and partner organizations in advancing sustainable and inclusive development.
Turning Awareness into Action through Student Engagement
The Global Goals Awareness Week Celebration 2025 featured a dynamic lineup of activities designed to engage students intellectually, creatively, and socially. The event included quiz bowls, essay writing, and extemporaneous speaking competitions—activities that deepened understanding of global issues and encouraged critical thinking. It also opened creative outlets such as poster-making, podcast production, and the SDG Booth Contest, allowing students to express advocacies through art and innovation.
Through collaboration with various student organizations, these activities became a platform to showcase student talent, advocacy, and leadership—hallmarks of the university’s culture of excellence and its drive to nurture globally minded citizens ready to contribute to sustainable progress.
Highlighting SDG Impact and Global Partnerships
One of the highlights of the celebration was the forum on the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings, which aimed to ensure information dissemination and inspire collective responsibility. The forum underscored how universities across the world, including CIT University, are assessed based on their contributions to the SDGs. By learning about these metrics, students and employees gained a clearer understanding of how individual and institutional actions can contribute to global progress.
