On February 18, 2025, Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) welcomed around 30 Japanese students from Hyogo University alongside four Japanese professors and three ESL Filipino teachers for an enriching cultural exchange program.

This collaborative initiative, involving 30 Filipino students from CIT University, exemplifies the university’s commitment to providing students with global exposure while fostering cross-cultural understanding.
The event kicked off with a lively meet-and-greet session, offering students an opportunity to bond, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. After engaging icebreaker activities in English, the participants embarked on a guided tour of the CIT University Library, led by Ms. Jesthine Kate Aparri. The Japanese students were particularly delighted to discover the library’s dedicated Japanese corner, reflecting CIT University’s inclusive and welcoming learning environment.

Back at Jurani Hall, the exchange continued with insightful group presentations from Groups A to E, followed by an interactive Q&A session. CIT University students eagerly engaged with their Hyogo University counterparts, exchanging ideas and perspectives that transcended cultural boundaries.
The event concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from a Hyogo University student and the awarding of certificates to participants from both institutions, recognizing their enthusiastic involvement. Even as the formal program ended, the connections forged were evident—Japanese and Filipino students lingered to share stories, capture memories through selfies, and celebrate the friendships formed.

This cultural exchange not only broadened the horizons of participating students but also underscored CIT University’s dedication to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By creating platforms for cross-cultural dialogue and learning, CIT University continues to equip its students with the skills, perspectives, and global awareness needed to thrive in an interconnected world.
