In a move that reinforces its position as a top Philippine university and the CHED Center of Excellence in Information Technology Education in Central Visayas, Cebu Institute of Technology–University (CIT University) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Philtech Inc., a premier offshore IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) firm based in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The partnership aims to create transformative opportunities for both current and incoming Teknoy students through research collaborations, internship programs, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that align with the university’s mission as an SDG University—one committed to fostering sustainable development through education and innovation.
Bridging Academia and Industry
Philtech Inc. is a trusted IT-focused offshore services provider that handles technology, engineering, and shared services operations exclusively for Albertsons Companies, one of the largest food and drug retailers in the United States. Through this collaboration, CIT University students—particularly those from the College of Computer Studies and the College of Engineering and Architecture—will gain direct exposure to real-world industry projects, mentorship from experienced IT professionals, and the chance to develop solutions that respond to global market demands.
This partnership enables us to align our academic programs with the evolving needs of industries while giving our students meaningful access to professional experiences even before graduation. It also embodies our culture of excellence and our commitment to producing globally competitive graduates.

A Strategic Partnership for the Future
Under the MOU, both parties agree to collaborate on joint research, faculty consultation, and program development that address skill demands in emerging technology sectors. CIT University will facilitate these engagements by providing access to its research facilities and expert faculty, while Philtech Inc. will offer internship placements and professional guidance to ensure students are industry-ready.
For Philtech Inc., the partnership opens doors to a pool of high-caliber talents from one of the top universities in the Philippines, known for its strong engineering and IT foundation. For CIT University, it strengthens its reputation as a leading engineering university in Cebu—bridging academic excellence and industry relevance.
Driving Sustainable and Inclusive Growth
As an SDG University, CIT University ensures that every partnership it builds contributes to broader social goals such as quality education (SDG 4), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), and industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9). By integrating sustainability into its academic and research directions, the university continues to lead as a model of innovation-driven education.
This MOU, signed by External Affairs Director, Dr. Larmie S. Feliscuzo on behalf of our University President, Engr. Bernard Nicolas E. Villamor, and Philtech’s Admin Director, Ms. April Bacud, marks another milestone in CIT University’s journey of empowering students to become skilled, ethical, and future-ready professionals—embodying the true essence of a top Philippine university grounded in a culture of excellence.
