
Shenzhen, China — A moment of pride not just for Cebu, but for the entire Philippines, as Cebu Institute of Technology – University (CIT-U) soars to new heights on the global stage by winning the coveted Grand Prize in the Computing Track of the 10th Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals, held from May 20–24, 2025 in Shenzhen, China.
The powerhouse team—composed of third-year BS Computer Science students Adrian Sajulga, Thomas Danjo Manulat, and Tristan James Tolentino—rose above the rest after a grueling 8-hour hands-on examination, designed to test the highest international standards of technical expertise under the Huawei Certified ICT Expert (HCIE) framework.
This victory is nothing short of monumental. The 2025 Huawei ICT Competition drew over 210,000 participants from more than 2,000 universities in 100+ countries. Out of this massive pool, 179 elite teams from 48 nations qualified for the Global Finals. Amid such intense global competition, CIT-U emerged as the best of the best, proving that Filipino talent is not only world-class—it’s world-leading.
The journey to victory began at the Asia Pacific Regional Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where the CIT-U team first made waves by securing First Prize, outshining top universities from across the region. Their continued success at the Global Finals now stands as a proud testament to their unwavering dedication, brilliance, and the exceptional education they receive at CIT-U.
