In line with the year’s theme #FarFirstFastFocused, CIT marked yet another first last Sunday when the University volunteered to be one of the HYDRATION STATIONS of the Cebu City Marathon 2020. It was indeed an awesome experience for all the volunteers – selected CWTS students with their instructor Mr. Jovel Boncales, members of the CIT University Dance Troupe with adviser Ms. Lonie Agosto, the High School Drum and Bugle Corps with Adviser Mr. Raul Escala, staff from the Multimedia Solutions and Documentation Office and the Office of Property Custodian, and the core team composed of Ms. Jean Marie Cando (Head of the Physical Education department), Mrs. Raffy Diano (University Marketing Offier), Engr. Erlyn Ivy Rago (Student Success Officer), and Mr. Jerome Ubas (Property Staff).

The experience allowed everyone to go beyond themselves and experience the value of altruism and volunteerism. After all, it was not easy waking up at the first hour of the morning to set-up and prepare the needs of the runners from water, food, liniments, sponges with water for cooling down, and even entertainment. But according to the volunteers, it was all worth it after seeing the grateful smiles of more than 1,200 runners who passed by the station. The event would not have been a success if not for the support of the administration who looks into different kind of avenues to foster and promote the the different facets of values-driven Technologians.
