The College of Engineering and Architecture started with the offering of the following degree programs: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering , and Architecture in 1946 with the objectives of the higher education to answer the needs of the time after the effect of World War II. These degree programs were offered with the leaderships of Don Simplicio A. Lizares Sr. who was elected as CIT’s first Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Dr. Nicolas G. Escario Sr. as President. In 1960, under the helm of the new President, Don Rodolfo T. Lizares Sr., Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering was offered and foreseeing the demands of Science and Technology, the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering was opened in 1968.

The demands from the Electronics Industry in the 80’s challenged the institution to offer the Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering program in 1983. Keeping abreast with the advancement of science and technology opened computer programs were offered in 1983 to include the offering of Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering.

To answer the need for qualified faculty and to comply with CHED’s requirement that only Masters degree holders can teach in the undergraduate programs, CIT offered Master in Engineering Education with different major in the early 80’s but due to lack of enrolled, the offering of Masters in Engineering Education was suspended and Masters in Engineering Major in Chemical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering in S.Y, 2011-2012 and Masters in Engineering Major in Industrial Engineering in S.Y. 2017-2018. Starting S.Y. 2019-2020, CIT-University will re-offer Master in Engineering Education with Major in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer engineering
